Le centre d’intérêt de Esthir Lemi porte sur la documentation du processus artistique et de la réalité, sur la complémentarité des catégories d’art, ainsi que sur comment la technologie interfère avec ces différentes catégories et leur relation. Ses recherches, basées sur l’haptique, s’adressent à un large public et cherchent à crééer une plate-forme innovante facilement accessible pour les artistes/ingénieurs et le public.
Après avoir obtenu son diplôme de piano à l’âge de 17 ans, Esthir a poursuivi ses études de composition (I. Ioannidis- Diplôme de composition, J. Brettingham-Smith, Analyse musicale et composition, UdK Berlin/, G. Toro-Perez, CAS en musique informatique, HdK, Zurich) et en esthétique musicale occidentale, (O. Fragou, PhD, Université d’Athènes).
En parallèle, elle a également suivi des études en peinture et multimédia. Elle a obtenu plusieurs bourses d’études. Elle a été sélectionnée pour représenter son pays à de nombreux événements et festivals internationaux (Bjcem 2003 et 2005, European Capital City 2006, Biennale d’Athènes 2011, NIME12, Innovation in Music II 2014, SMC2018 (prix du public), Escales 2019 Galeries Lafayette Marseille) à la fois en tant qu’artiste et compositrice, tout en poursuivant ses recherches sur la perception des formes artistiques croisées pour un large public.
Elle a mené une partie de ses recherches en tant qu’artiste en résidence au département de médialogie de l’Université d’Aalborg en 2014 (projet Haptic Diary). Elle poursuit sa collaboration avec le laboratoire Medialogy avec divers projets (Parenthetical Window 2015-17, Through the Looking Sound 2019) en tant qu’artiste testant les applications des laboratoires pour des installations artistiques.
Esthir Lemi focuses on documentation of the artistic process and reality as well as on the complementarity of art forms, and how technology interferes with its schemes. Her research, based on haptics, is aimed at a broad public in order to create an easily accessible innovative platform for both artist/engineers and the audience. After achieving her piano diploma at the age of 17, Esthir went on to study composition (I. Ioannidis- Diploma in Composition, ΩΜΕΑ/ J. Brettingham-Smith, Music Analysis and Composition, UdK Berlin/, G. Toro-Perez, CAS in Computer Music, HdK, Zurich) and western musical aesthetics, (O. Fragou, PhD, Athens University). She also followed parallel studies in painting and multimedia. She has been awarded with several scholarships. She has been chosen to represent her country at numerous events and international festivals (Bjcem 2003 and 2005, European Capital City 2006, Athens Biennial 2011, NIME12, Innovation in Music II 2014, SMC2018 (audience award), Escales 2019 Galleries Lafayette Marseille) both as an artist and composer, furthering her research concerning the perception of complementary forms for a wide audience. She conducted part of her research as artist- in-residence at Medialogy Department at Aalborg University in 2014 (Haptic Diary project). She continues her collaboration with Medialogy lab for various projects (Parenthetical Window 2015-17, Through the Looking Sound 2019) as an artist testing the labs applications for art installations.
