Ljudmila Art and Science Laboratory a été créé en 2010 en tant que successeur du programme Ljudmila – Ljubljana Digital Media Lab de l’Open Society Institute Slovenia (depuis 1994). Il s’efforce de relier les pratiques de recherche, les technologies, la science, l’art et la société civile. Elle s’engage dans le développement et la vulgarisation de la culture ouverte, des licences et des logiciels libres, et dans de nouveaux modes de distribution. Il détecte comment les transformations de la communication affectent la société et encourage des pratiques artistiques innovantes. À partir de 2011, Ljudmila est également à la tête de Creative Commons Slovénie.

Depuis 2011, Ljudmila développe et publie le portail Culture.si de coopération internationale, a été lancé en 2013 le Kulturnik.si (moteur de méta-recherche et agrégateur d’actualités et d’événements culturels). Les deux portails ont été financés par le ministère slovène de la Culture.

Contexte : Autoproclamé « le dernier spin-off » de l’Open Society Institute – Slovénie (1992-2000), le Ljudmila Art and Science Laboratory a été créé par 10 nouveaux artistes, développeurs, hackers, programmeurs et ingénieurs informatiques, engagé dans le Ljudmila – Ljubljana Digital Media Lab, un programme de l’Association des Arts et de la Culture de KUD France Preeren.

Les membres fondateurs du Laboratoire d’Art et de Science de Ljudmila sont Urban Belina, Mitja Doma, Luka Frelih, Tomaa Ianc, Iga Kranjec, Igor Krianovskij, Zoran Obradovic, Alenka Pirman, Robertina ‘ebjani’ et ‘iva Zupan. Helena Pivec et Tina Dolin-ek sont également des membres actifs de l’association.

Ljudmila Art and Science Laboratory was established in 2010 as a successor to the Ljudmila – Ljubljana Digital Media Lab programme of Open Society Institute Slovenia (since 1994). It strives to connect research practices, technologies, science, art and civil society. It engages in the development and popularisation of open culture, free licences and software, and in new ways of distribution. It detects how the communication transformations affect the society and encourages innovative art practices. From 2011 Ljudmila acts also as a public lead of Creative Commons Slovenia.

Since 2011 Ljudmila develops and publishes the Culture.si portal for international cooperation, in 2013 the Kulturnik.si (a metasearch engine and the cultural news and events aggregator) was launched. Both portals have been funded by the Slovene Ministry of Culture.

The founding members of the Ljudmila Art and Science Laboratory are Urban Belina, Mitja Doma, Luka Frelih, Tomaž Ižanc, Žiga Kranjec, Igor Križanovskij, Zoran Obradović, Alenka Pirman, Robertina Šebjanič, and Živa Zupan. Helena Pivec and Tina Dolinšek are also active members of the association.
